Meet the New Alabama Coaching Staff: Setting the Standard for Excellence

**Meet the New Alabama Coaching Staff: Setting the Standard for Excellence**

As the Crimson Tide prepare for another thrilling season of college football, all eyes are on the new coaching staff that has been assembled to lead the charge. Led by Head Coach Kalen DeBoer, this talented group of coaches brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table, promising to uphold the rich tradition of success at the University of Alabama.

 **Head Coach Kalen DeBoer:**

At the helm of the Crimson Tide is Head Coach Kalen DeBoer, a proven leader with an impressive track record of success. DeBoer's tenure at Washington saw him lead the Huskies to a national championship game in just his second year, showcasing his ability to build winning programs. Known for his high-powered offense and knack for developing top-tier talent, DeBoer brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his role at Alabama.

DeBoer's arrival in Tuscaloosa brings with it a wave of anticipation and excitement. Known for his high-powered offense and knack for developing top-tier talent, DeBoer is set to inject a new level of energy and innovation into Alabama's football program. With a quarterback who led the nation in passing under his tutelage and finished as a Heisman finalist, DeBoer's sights are set on replicating that success with projected starter Jalen Milroe.

 **Offensive Powerhouses:**

Assisting DeBoer is an arsenal of offensive masterminds, each bringing a unique set of skills and experiences to the table.

 - **Nick Sheridan**, Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach, honed his craft while learning DeBoer's system at Indiana, making him the perfect complement to DeBoer's vision for the offense.

  - **JaMarcus Shepherd**, Assistant Head Coach, Co-Offensive Coordinator, and WR Coach, is hailed as a rising star in the coaching world. His instrumental role in securing freshmen sensation Ryan Williams speaks volumes about his ability to identify and develop talent. He is looking forward to duplicating the success he saw with his Wide Receiver Corp with the Huskies. Shepherd gave us a little insight into his approach to coaching WRs when he spoke to Ryan Fowler of The Game. Shepherd plans to field a tough brand of WRs or as he like to call them - “Takers”! He also spoke of Freddy Soft: Freddy Soft tells us all the things that we don't want to do. You have to fight Freddy Soft every single day because he'll talk to you every day."

 - **Robert Gillespie**, retained from Nick Saban’s staff, brings a wealth of experience to his role as Assistant Head Coach and RB Coach. With a talented group of backs led by Jam Miller and Justice Haynes, Gillespie is poised to make a significant impact on Alabama's ground game.

 - **Chris Kapilovic**, Offensive Line Coach, boasts over 30 years of experience and will field the nation's best interior line. With a focus on toughness and improved pass protection, Kapilovic's expertise will be instrumental in shaping Alabama's offensive line and helping develop two young offensive tackles.

 - **Bryan Ellis**, another creative offensive mind, brings his experience as an Offensive Coordinator to the table. His expertise will be invaluable in taking the talented Tight End room to the next level.

**A Defensive Powerhouse:**

But the Crimson Tide's dominance isn't confined to the offensive side of the ball. The defensive staff is equally formidable, with a lineup of coaches who are ready to uphold Alabama's tradition of defensive excellence.

While DeBoer leads the charge on offense, the defensive side of the ball is equally formidable under the guidance of former South Alabama Head Coach and new Alabama Defensive Coordinator/LB Coach Kane Wommack. Bringing his innovative 4-2-5 Swarm-D scheme to Tuscaloosa, Wommack is joined by an impressive lineup of coaches who are tasked with maintaining Alabama's tradition of defensive dominance.

 - **Associate Head Coach/Defensive Line Coach**: Freddie Roach was retained from Nick Saban’s staff, his unit will be crucial to the success of the Swarm-D, anchoring the defensive front and setting the tone for the rest of the defense.

 - **Co-Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach**: Former Buffalo Head Coach Maurice Lindquist and former Wisconsin Co-Defensive Coordinator Colin Hitschler have the tough task of replacing several key players in the secondary. They were able to get a couple key additions from the portal, in Jackson and Saban. Along with these additions, they are challenged with incorporating several talented reserves into the starting lineup, while maintaining the high standard set by their predecessors.

 - **Inside Linebackers Coach**: Christian Robinson brings a wealth of SEC experience to his role, anchoring a talented group of linebackers led by standout Jihad Campbell and Deontae Lawson.

**Behind the Scenes Excellence:**

While the on-field coaches grab headlines, it's important to recognize the contributions of those working behind the scenes. General Manager Courtney Morgan plays a pivotal role in navigating the complexities of modern college football, from roster management to navigating the ever-changing landscape of NIL and the transfer portal.

**Looking Ahead:**

As spring practice approaches, excitement is building among fans as they anticipate the debut of the new coaching staff and the promise of another memorable season for the Crimson Tide. With a lineup of coaches who are committed to excellence and driven to succeed Alabama football will look to keep the Tide rolling.

As Alabama moves passed Nick Saban, one thing is clear: the Alabama Crimson Tide are in good hands. With a coaching staff as talented and diverse as this one, the future looks bright for one of college football's most storied programs.
